Armor for a Child

This is a piece of armor for a child. This armor was made in the middle of the Edo era(1680 - 1745). The family crest(flower of a plum) attached to the helmet shows it was from the Hisamatsu-Matudaira family. The Hisamatsu-Matudaira family was a member of the Shogun family.
This armor was not for battle but for ceremonies. The protection plates are formed by gold leaf being stuck to the iron and a clear orange Japanese lacquer is applied over it. These plates are tied with dark green thread. The height of this armor is about 1m.
