Kanei-ji Temple

This is the Kan-ei-ji temple in Ueno. The pond on the left-hand side is the Shinobazu-no-ike. The 3rd Shogun Iyemitsu built this Kan-ei-ji temple in 1625. This temple was built to protect the unlucky quarter of the Edo castle. A great Buddha was placed at the entrance of the temple.
