This is the river called Kanda-gawa River now. The original name of this river was Hirakawa River, and when Edo castle was built, it was used as a part of a moat. The aqueduct (Suidobashi in Japanese) is illustrated on middle of this scene. One of the waterworks of Edo was using the water from Inogashira pond. In order to carry the water to Edo city, the bridge was made above the moat.
