Daidokoro Gate for the Master

This is a Daidokoro gate that the Daimyo used. The diameter of the pillar was about 1.5m (5 ft). It was very thick.
Daidokoro means the kitchen. In those days, the kitchen was an important place. Serving a meal was very important, to make important contacts.
The wife of the Shogun was called "Mi-daigokoro". It means "Kitchen keeper". A wife is always an able administrator of a kitchen. In case of my family, my wife is always the Queen of a kitchen.
