This is a model for explaining the stage tricks of kabuki. You can see the backstage mechanism with four mirrors installed at the top. These scenes were used in the drama about a ghost.
The left end is the technique that the actor(ghost) appeared suddenly from the center of a paper lantern. The actor lied down on a board is pushed out from the backstage and the actor holds a support of the stage and stands up quickly. The audiences think that the ghost appeared suddenly from the paper lantern.
The next(right) is the scene that the actor is dragged into the Buddhist altar. There is a big cylinder in the backstage, and the actor is rolled round.
The two right-hand sides are where the actor appears to the stage suddenly. A part of the wall rotates.
This model operates every 15 minutes and you can see those techniques.
